Growling Tigresses reclaim UAAP women’s basketball crown after 17 years

In a dramatic feat in Game 3, the UST Growling Tigresses brought home its 12th gold after swiping the 8-peat hopes of NU Lady Bulldogs, 71-69, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

The Tigresses overcame a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter to earn a come-from-behind win, ending the 17-year championship drought in the basketball division, which UST last hoisted in 2006.

Reynalyn “Tantoy” Ferrer was named the Finals MVP. The graduating Tigress tallied 19 points and 14 rebounds.

The tactician of this newly crowned Tigresses was coach Haydee Ong, who was instrumental in this historic victory.
