Four Thomasian biologists elected to newly established Philippine Society for Freshwater Science

Four Thomasian biologists were elected as officers of the newly established Philippine Society for Freshwater Science (PSFS), during the 2nd Philippine Symposium on Freshwater Biodiversity and Ecosystems, held from December 11-14, 2018, at the University of the Philippines (UP) – Diliman.

Elected Vice-President was Department of Biological Sciences Chair Rey Donne S. Papa, PhD, while faculty member Jonathan Carlo Briones, PhD was elected as Liaison Officer. Two Thomasian graduates, Jhaydee Ann Pascual (Master of Science in Biology, 2014) and Milette Mendoza (Bachelor of Science in Biology, 2013; Master of Science in Biology, 2015) were elected as Treasurer and Public Relations Officer, respectively. Heading the society is Dr. Francis Magbanua of UP-Diliman.

PSFS is an organization conceptualized during the 1st Philippine Symposium on Freshwater Biodiversity and Ecosystems held from June 7-10, 2016 at the University of Santo Tomas. It will take charge in organizing succeeding PSFBE meetings.
