A public university in Indonesia accommodated researchers from UST’s Research Center for Social Sciences and Education (RCSSED) who shared their recent studies related to sustainability and environmental protection issues.
The Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember in Surabaya province (some 780 kms. east of Jakarta) hosted a Guest Lecture Series (GLS) on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for their students in its current Spring Semester.
During that Series, RCSSED academic researchers Prof. Moises Norman Garcia, Prof. Maria Rosario Garcia, Prof. Arlen Ancheta and Asst. Prof. Racquel Layco presented their papers that were done for the NGO EcoWaste Coalition Philippines, Inc. and for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Prof. Moises Garcia presented his paper on materials balance flow of plastic pollution in Manila Bay.
Prof. Ancheta discussed findings of a study on what are called “Zero Waste Cities.” Prof. Maria Rosario Garcia presented a paper on sachet consumption, while Asst. Prof. Racquel Layco spoke on community engaged research on disaster resiliency. The GLS sessions on “Practices and Policy” were staged virtually on May 17 and 24, 2022.
