Five faculty members make it to ASEAN Engineers Register

Five faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering recently joined the ranks of Thomasian engineers who have been conferred the title ASEAN Engineers, making the number of Thomasian engineers a total of 12. The awarding ceremony, which coincided with the 36th Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO 36) and the ASEAN Engineering Deans Summit, was held on November 13, 2018, at the Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore.

Awarded were: Prof. Edna C. Quinto, Ph.D., Prof. Evelyn R. Laurito, Ph.D., and Prof. Lola Domnina B. Pestaño, Ph.D. (of the Chemical Engineering Department), Asst. Prof. Rogelio Almira, and Asst. Prof. Nelson M. Pasamonte (both of the Mechanical Engineering Department).

Quinto and Pestaño are both researchers at the Research Center for the Natural and Applied Sciences while Laurito, the national secretary of the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers (PIChE), has an ARA on the implementation of the Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate (CDIO) initiative of the Faculty of Engineering for first year students.
Almira is currently the Machine Shop Laboratory Supervisor of the
Mechanical Engineering Department, while Pasamonte is the Department
Chair.

Engineering include: Engr. Nestor R. Ong (2012), Engr. Juanito S. Chan
(2013), Asst. Prof. Dolores S.D. Cleofas, Ph.D., (2013), Prof. Nancy L.
Eleria, Ph.D., (2013), Prof. Marilyn C. Mabini, Ph.D. (2013), Assoc. Prof.
Joehanna K. Ngo (2013), and Assoc. Prof. Carlos Ignacio P. Lugay, Ph.D.
