The ESTEEM Alumni Awards is the annual ceremonial event of the UST Faculty of Engineering to formally recognize and celebrate the exemplary lives and milestones of Thomasian Engineers. More than a celebration of distinction, ESTEEM honors alumni whose professional excellence, integrity, and service to society embody the UST’s mission of forming Competent, Compassionate, and Committed servant leaders.
This prestigious event acknowledges both the lifetime achievements of alumni whose transformative contributions have left a lasting mark on the University and society, as well as those who, in the active course of their careers, continue to exemplify Thomasian excellence and inspire future generations. Through this annual tradition, the ESTEEM Alumni Awards stand as a tribute to the heritage of Thomasian Engineering, celebrating alumni who bring honor to UST, advance the profession, and illuminate the path of service to the Church, the nation, and the global community.
The ESTEEM Alumni Awards event encompasses the Thomasian Engineer Hall of Fame (HOF), the Outstanding Thomasian Engineer (OTE), the Engineering Centennial Awards, and future recognitions that will honor the achievements of Thomasian Engineers.
The Thomasian Engineer Hall of Fame Award, established in 1996 through the collaboration of the UST Faculty of Engineering and the UST Engineering Alumni Association, Inc., is the highest and most prestigious honor the Faculty of Engineering may confer upon its Thomasian Engineering Alumni. It is reserved for an esteemed group of Thomasian Engineers whose lifetime achievements, steadfast professional excellence, and selfless dedication to society embody the ideals of UST.
More than a recognition of individual accomplishment, the Hall of Fame affirms each honoree’s enduring legacy, recognizing their transformative contributions that have brought lasting distinction to the University and profound benefit to society and the global community. As the pinnacle of recognition, it celebrates the life’s work of Thomasian engineers whose example remains a permanent source of inspiration for future generations, while upholding UST’s Catholic identity and mission to form competent, compassionate, and committed servant leaders.
As the highest honor, recipients of the Thomasian Engineer Hall of Fame Award shall no longer be considered for other recognitions, such as the Outstanding Thomasian Engineer Award, since their elevation to the Hall of Fame already represents the pinnacle of recognition conferred by the Faculty of Engineering.
The Outstanding Thomasian Engineer (OTE) Award is conferred by the UST Faculty of Engineering to alumni who exemplify professional excellence, integrity, and service to society in alignment with the UST’s mission of forming competent, compassionate, and committed servant leaders. Unlike the Hall of Fame, which is reserved for alumni whose achievements reflect lifetime distinction and enduring legacy, the OTE Award recognizes those who, in the active course of their careers, continue to make meaningful contributions in their profession and advocacies, serving as living role models for future generations of Thomasian engineers.
The UST Engineering Centennial Awards, conferred in 2007 to mark the 100th founding anniversary of the UST Faculty of Engineering, honored a select group of distinguished individuals whose outstanding achievements have significantly shaped and enriched the century-long history of the Faculty. This once-in-a-century recognition celebrated their enduring contributions that brought pride to the University of Santo Tomas, advanced the engineering profession, and strengthened the Thomasian legacy of excellence in service to the Church, the nation, and the global community.
Nominees for the Thomasian Engineer Hall of Fame (HOF) and the Outstanding Thomasian Engineer (OTE) Award must be graduates of the UST Faculty of Engineering who have distinguished themselves through significant contributions in fields such as, but not limited to, engineering design, research and development, industry leadership, entrepreneurship, government or community service, and/or engineering education.
Their accomplishments should be attested by national or international awards or recognitions that affirm their professional excellence. Above all, nominees must exemplify the highest standards of character, integrity, and Christian values, consistently demonstrated throughout the practice of their profession.
Nominations for the Hall of Fame Award may also be made posthumously in recognition of alumni whose legacy continues to inspire and whose contributions have left a lasting impact on the University, the profession, and society.
