Nominees for the Thomasian Engineer Hall of Fame (HOF) and the Outstanding Thomasian Engineer (OTE) Award must be graduates of the UST Faculty of Engineering who have distinguished themselves through significant contributions in fields such as, but not limited to, engineering design, research and development, industry leadership, entrepreneurship, government or community service, and/or engineering education.

Their accomplishments should be attested by national or international awards or recognitions that affirm their professional excellence. Above all, nominees must exemplify the highest standards of character, integrity, and Christian values, consistently demonstrated throughout the practice of their profession.

Nominations for the Hall of Fame Award may also be made posthumously in recognition of alumni whose legacy continues to inspire and whose contributions have left a lasting impact on the University, the profession, and society.

1. Leadership and Service to the Profession
   This criterion recognizes alumni who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to the profession through high-impact achievements in their field of practice, preferably in leadership roles, and through innovations or contributions that have influenced reforms or policies at the national, regional, or global level. It also encompasses exemplary leadership in professional organizations, recognition by national or international institutes for professional excellence, and global distinctions or qualifications that affirm their stature in the field. Equally important is their role as mentors who contribute to the sustained growth of the profession and the respect they command from peers, colleagues, and subordinates for their integrity, competence, and dedication.

    

2. Service to society and the Church
   This criterion recognizes alumni who demonstrate active and sustained service to society and the Church through meaningful involvement in civic and not-for-profit organizations, significant participation in developmental initiatives aligned with national and global priorities such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Philippine Development Plan (PDP), and engagement in volunteerism and philanthropic activities that embody the values, principles, and mission of the Catholic Church and the University of Santo Tomas.

    

3. Service to the University of Santo Tomas
   This criterion recognizes alumni who demonstrate active and sustained service to the University of Santo Tomas and the Faculty of Engineering through consistent participation in institutional and alumni activities, meaningful engagement in industry-academe initiatives such as hosting student interns, and continued support for the UST’s development programs in areas such as faculty, student, infrastructure, and institutional growth. It likewise affirms the contributions of those who actively promote and uphold the advocacies, programs, and values of the University, serving as ambassadors who ensure their relevance, impact, and sustainability.

    

4. Commitment to family and a life of integrity
   This criterion recognizes alumni who exemplify family values grounded in Thomasian ideals and Catholic principles, and who consistently demonstrate integrity in both their professional practice and personal life. They uphold respect for human life and care for the environment, live as responsible citizens with no unfavorable records, and conduct themselves with honesty, accountability, and moral uprightness at all times.

1. Eligible nominees may be nominated by any individual of good moral character or by a recognized organization, provided that the nomination is duly endorsed by the Department Chair of the nominee’s field and a member of the Executive Board of the appropriate Engineering Department Alumni Association.
2. All submitted nomination forms, together with complete supporting documents, shall be initially evaluated by the Permanent Screening Committee (PSC), which is composed of the Faculty Secretary, the Officer-in-Charge of Industry, Government, Academe, and Alumni Relations and Programs (IGAARP) Office, one academic staff member from the Faculty of Engineering, and a representative from the recognized Engineering Alumni Association. The PSC shall recommend the qualified nominees to the UST Faculty of Engineering for further review and deliberation by the Permanent Committee on Awards and Recognition in Engineering (PCARE).
3. The final list of awardees to be included in the Thomasian Engineer Hall of Fame (HOF) and the Outstanding Thomasian Engineer (OTE) shall be determined by the Permanent Committee on Awards and Recognition in Engineering (PCARE), composed of the Dean, Regent, Assistant Dean, and two (2) members of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Engineering, and the President and External Vice President of the UST Engineering Alumni Association Inc., (USTEAAI).
4. To ensure fairness and prevent any conflict of interest, board members of the recognized Engineering Alumni Associations, as well as members of the PSC and PCARE, shall not be eligible to nominate candidates for the Awards.
5. Nominations that are incomplete or lacking the required supporting documents shall not be considered for evaluation.
6. The decisions of the PSC and PCARE shall be considered final, executory, and not subject to appeal.
