EdTech appointed Philippine Blackboard Users’ Champion, holds inaugural planning workshop

As the pioneer user of the Blackboard (Bb) Learning Management System (LMS) in the Philippines, the UST Educational Technology Center (EdTech) through its director, Asst. Prof. Anna Cherylle Ramos, MSc, was appointed by Blackboard as the Philippine Blackboard User’s Group (P-BUG) Champion Lead. The group is composed of 7 universities and institutions, including the Ateneo Graduate School of Business, Mapua Institute of Technology, Lyceum of the Philippines University, Career Asia Academy, St. Paul’s University Quezon City, Philippine Women’s University, and Malayan Colleges.

To help other Bb users flourish together as a learning community, EdTech spearheaded a group teambuilding and planning workshop on January 20, 2017 at the St. Antoninus Hall of the Thomas Aquinas Research Complex. This was attended by 18 representatives from the member schools.

The gathering consisted of presenting the Bb Road Map and its implication to P-BUG Members, discussion of membership guidelines, teambuilding activities, planning workshop, and goal setting. Also discussed was the product update for Bb Learn and Moodlerooms and the features of the Bb Student App which includes more competency-based evaluation, attendance tracking, course activity overview and learning plan templates. Bb also has platform services like tech adoption, implementation of training services, mentoring and coaching, project management and review and benchmarking.

Succeeding meetings will be hosted by other PBUG members to share best practices and solve system-wide adoption challenges.
