Eballo of Religion, SImbahayan contributes to SAGE encyclopedia on sociology of religion

Prof. Arvin D. Eballo, PhD of the Institute of Religion is one of the contributors to the upcoming SAGE Encyclopedia of Sociology of Religion, which is expected in late February 2020.

The two-volume set covers topics such as secularization, fundamentalism, extremism, the role of gender in religions, and new religious movements. According to the SAGE website, “The SAGE Encyclopedia of the Sociology of Religion takes a three-pronged look at this, namely investigating the role of religion in society; unpacking and evaluating the significance of religion in and on human history; and tracing and outlining the social forces and influences that shape religion.”

The encyclopedia was edited by Professor Adam Possamai (Western Sydney University) and Anthony J. Blasi (Tennessee State University). Eballo, the incumbent Director of the Simbahayan Community Development Office, has been the President of the Philippine Association for the Sociology of Religion and is a member of the South and Southeast Asian Association for the Study of Culture and Religion.

Eballo joins scholars from Florida State University, University of Edinburgh, Lund University, University of Tasmania, and the University of Fribourg, among others.
