Faculty of Arts and Letters Dean Prof. Melanie D. Turingan, PhD, was among the country’s representatives in the inaugural Southeast Asian Humanities Deans Summit 2025 (SEA-HUDS) on July 25, 2025, hosted by Chulalongkorn University Faculty of Arts, Bangkok, Thailand.

Dean Turingan talked about the Humanities and Public Engagement.
She was joined by University of the Philippines – Diliman College of Arts and Letters Dean Jimmuel C. Naval and Associate Dean Jovy M. Peregrino, and De La Salle University – College of Liberal Arts Dean Ador R. Torneo.
Held in a spirit of partnership and a shared commitment to the value of the humanities, SEA-HUDS gathered deans and academic leaders for discussions revolving around four key themes: reimagining humanities curricula in Southeast Asia; promoting regional research agendas and collaboration; the humanities and public engagement; and the futures of the humanities in the age of AI.
Moreover, it aims to establish a long-term framework for collaboration among Southeast Asian institutions and beyond, and to reaffirm the role of the humanities as a vital pillar of regional integration and sustainable development.
