Dean Dacanay of Pharmacy delivers plenary speech in Drug Stores Association of the PHL conference

Dean Aleth Therese L. Dacanay, PhD of the Faculty of Pharmacy was the Plenary Speaker during the 21st National Convention of the Drug Store Association of the Philippines (DSAP) last August 23-25, 2017, at Sofitel, Manila. The convention bore the theme “Responding to New Regulations, Trends, and Practices.”

Dacanay, concurrently serving as the President of the Philippine Association of the Colleges of Pharmacy, presented to the DSAP members how the educational landscape has drastically changed in the last five years, with the introduction of an additional two years in the basic education system and the rolling out of the new BSc Pharmacy curriculum in 2018. She acknowledged in her speech that global movements now affect the local educational setting more rapidly, and the role of the industry in informing the academic offerings can no longer be denied. Representing the academe, Dacanay presented to DSAP the possible points of collaboration where industry-academe linkages can take place.
