CTHM reaps awards at the COHREP National Skills Competition 2022

Students from the UST College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM)received awards during the National Skills Competition organized by the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines, Inc. (COHREP) held from December 1 to 2, 2022, at Holy Angel University in Angeles City, Pampanga.

The event was officially hosted by COHREP Region III, in partnership with Holy Angel University, System Plus College Foundation, and Jocson College. The competitions were divided into three (3) clusters: the Tourism Cup (Virtual Tour Guiding, Flight Attendant Showmanship, and Tour Packaging), Hospitality Cup (Cocktail Challenge: The Talking Bartender, Floral Centerpiece Arrangement, and The Fruit and Vegetable Carving Challenge), and the Culinary Cup (Filipino Dessert Live Cooking, On-the-spot Cake Decorating, and the Pampanga Culinary Challenge).

For the Tourism Cup, Ms. Jhoa Nna A. Quinsayas, with her trainers academic staff Mr. Avi Ben P. Andalecio and Mr. Arnulfo Ricardo A. Butiong, won the Virtual Tour Guiding – Diploma Award.

Ms. Maria Martina Pauline A. Verzosa and Mr. Kyle Mealord V. Dayao, with academic staff coaches Ms. Theresa B. Resurreccion, Ms. Jeanne Bianca E. Abad, Ms. Josephine Frances V. Calanog, and Mr. Arnulfo Ricardo A. Butiong, won the Flight Attendant Showmanship – Silver Award.

Ms. Nathaniela Rhaine D. Bondoc and Ms. Maria Carren M. Santos, guided by Ms. Catherine C. Mondejar,  Asst. Prof. Christine Concepcion Cabigao-Fajardo, Ms. Maria Christina Dolor E. Villarin, and Mr. Arnulfo Ricardo A. Butiong, won the Tour Packaging – Bronze Award

For the Hospitality Cup, Ms. Jalil P. Noche and Mr. Steven Diego Mateu M. Sumulong (Alternate) won the Cocktail Challenge: The Talking Bartender – Diploma Award. Mr. Ramil M. Quinonez served as staff coach.

For the Culinary Cup, Mr. Thomas Dominic M. Zambrano, Ms. Franchezka A. De Roxas, and Ms. Sofia Angela M. Paja (Alternate) won the Filipino Dessert Live Cooking – Silver Award, with Chef Reinald Andaya serving as the team’s academic staff coach.

Mr. John Ethan Kenneth R. Guerrero, Mr. Angelo Gabrielle J. Lati, and Ms. Ma. Sophia Lorenz P. Aga (Alternate) won the On-the-spot Cake Decorating – Bronze Award, under the guidance of Chef Kristian Kristoffer A. Roque.

Mr. Daniel V. Dalipe, Ms. Louise Orlane R. Reyes, and Mr. John Marco C. Acena (Alternate), with academic staff coach Chef Ramona Olga D. Ko, won the Pampanga Culinary Challenge – Gold with Distinction Award.

            The UST CTHM student teams brought home the Culinary Cup Overall Champion having won one Gold awards with Distinction, two Silver awards , two Bronze awards, and two (2) Diploma Awards.
