CTHM Dean Granado wins Best Research Presenter at 1st ITECReC 2022

The College of Tourism and Hospitality Management Dean Assoc. Prof. Gezzez Giezi G. Granado, DCL, won Best Research Presenter at the 1st International Tourism Educators Convention and Research Conference (ITECReC) held from November 28 to 30, 2022, at the Mandarin Hotel Bangkok, Thailand. It was organized by the Union of Filipino Tourism Educators, Inc. (UFTE).


He presented the research titled, “The Value and Significance of Local Ordinances in Sustainable Community-based Tourism – The Case of Barangay San Miguel, Echague, Isabela, Philippines.” It is co-authored by CTHM academic staff members Mr. Jame Monren T. Mercado, Mr. Avi Ben P. Andalecio, Ms. Fhamela F. Sarmiento, Asst. Prof. Maria Concepcion A. Ang, and Assoc. Prof. Evangeline E. Timbang, Ph.D. The research aims to understand how laws and ordinances contribute to Sustainable Tourism in Barangay San Miguel, Echague, Isabela.


Other research studies from the same team were presented during the conference. “Explicating the Contributions of the Local Community on Sustainable Community-based Tourism: The Case of Barangay San Miguel, Echague, Isabela, Philippines” and “Behind the Community Lenses: Community-based Tourism Potentials of Barangay San Miguel, Echague, Isabela using the Extended Parameters of Sustainable Tourism Development” were presented by Mercado and Andalecio respectively on behalf of their research team.


The research presented was part of the approved project funded by the Department of Science and Technology – National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST NRCP) under the Policy Funded Research Award 2021 in cooperation with the Office of Hon. Faustino “Inno” A. Dy V of the 6th District of the Province of Isabela and the Municipal Government of Echague, Isabela.
