Bachelor of Fine Arts, major in Painting senior Bernice Michaela Cruz of the College of Fine Arts and Design bagged the third place in the watercolor category of the 51st Shell National Students Art Competition on November 12, 2018 at the Ayala Museum.
Cruz’s watercolor painting entitled “Hopscotch of life” was the Thomasian artist’s depiction of the given theme “Perspective”.
Moreover, Erika Angela Quintero, also a painting senior, was named finalist in the same category with her watercolor painting entitled “Overlooking”.
In the history of the competition, which started in 1951, a notable Thomasian who was also recognized was the National Artist for Visual Arts Ang Kiukok, who bagged third prize for his oil painting entitled “Calesas” in 1955.
