CRS, Arizona State University host joint webinar on Interprofessional Education

The College of Rehabilitation Sciences (CRS) Interprofessional Education team, in collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU), held its 2nd international webinar titled “Intersections 2022: Frontiers in Interprofessional Education” on November 29, 2022.

Attended by students and allied health professionals, the event serves as a venue to talk about the current trends and innovations in interprofessional education (IPE), as well as to highlight the activities, learnings, and experiences of students presently taking the IPE course.

The webinar started with a welcome message from CRS Dean Assoc. Prof. Anne Marie Aseron and opening remarks from the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Cheryl R. Peralta, DrPH.

 The guest speakers included ASU Center for Advancing Interprofessional Practice, Education, and Research Director Prof. Barret Michalec and CRS academic staff and researcher Ms. Catherine Escuadra.

            Michalec discussed the roles of humility in healthcare delivery, its potential implications in interprofessional care, and how one can cultivate humility. Meanwhile, Escuadra tackled the role of technology advancement in facilitating and enabling interprofessional education and collaboration in the educational and  healthcare system.

The event concluded with presentations of student representatives in this year’s IPE cohort who shared their experiences and reflection on Synergy and fieldwork activities.
