Clinical Audiology program, Macquarie University test simplified ear and hearing screening program

Last July 2-16, 2016, the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery’s Clinical Audiology program administrators and students as well as partners from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, conducted a series of screening programs for ear and hearing on kindergarten, grade one, and grade two pupils.

The screen program is a relatively quick and safe tool that measures middle ear function by introducing a very small pressure in the ear with hearing sensitivity measured through a sound generator. Administered by both local and Australian Post-graduate Audiology Interns, this pilot implementation is of importance in developing a policy for consideration by stakeholders.

A total of 332 individuals were tested, and results of the study will be released at the end of the First Term of Academic Year 2016-2017.
