Celis, Nagal of CTHM Elected to Board of Directors of the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Phlippines (COHREP)

The Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines (COHREP) recently held its first General Membership Meeting for the year and the Election of the 2023-2024 Board of Directors on Saturday, March 26, 2022. The event, virtually hosted by the Davao Region XI Chapter of the organization highlighted its future outlook of the industry, through the theme “Synergy Amidst Adversity: Developing appropriate, viable, and adaptable communities.”

There were 21 nominees for the election, including faculty members of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management – Dr. Mark Irvin C. Celis and Ms. Kathrine Camille A. Nagal – as well as other current members of the Board of Directors, and representatives from other Regions. Out of the all the nominees, 15 were elected as the incoming Board of Directors, including Dr. Celis and Ms. Nagal who were also internally elected as incoming President and Assistant Secretary, respectively.

Celis is a Certified Hospitality Educator recognized by the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute and a Certified Tourism Professional recognized by the UK Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Professionals. He currently serves as COHREP’s Vice-President. In the academe, he serves as a Regional Quality Assessment Team member of the Commission on Higher Education, a trainer and assessor for the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and an accreditor of the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditatin.

Meanwhile, Nagal is a seasoned faculty member and administrator in NCR institutions. After earning her degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the University in 2005, she taught in various colleges and universities before returning to UST as a member of the CTHM’s academic staff in August 2020. She is the incumbent Coordinator for International Relations and Programs of the college.
