CCCPET, UNESCO PH Natcom hold workshop series for Philippines World Heritage Sites

The National Commission of the Philippines for UNESCO (PH Natcom) in cooperation with UST Graduate School Center for Conservation of Cultural Property and Environment in the tropics conducted the first part of the three-stage ladderized World Heritage and Biosphere Reserve Nomination: Capacity Building Seminar-Workshop.

Hosted by Local City Government of Puerto Princesa, Palawan last April 14-15, 2016. The main objectives of the workshop are to: 1) To develop the site manager’s writing skills in establishing their outstanding universal value, authenticity and integrity and the management systems of their sites; 2) To establish the state of conservation of the site based on physical, oral and archival evidences; 3) To prepare an initial nomination dossier formatted according to the World heritage nomination standard; and 4) To interphase in the broader network of experts and organizations that will fortify their rational to become world heritage listed.

The workshop includes a half day field tour at the Puento Princesa Subterranean River National Park, one of the World Heritage Sites in the Philippines.
