CCCPET partners with PH Natcom for World Heritage Sites Nomination of Philippine Sites

The Philippine National Commission for UNESCO (PH Natcom) partners with University of Santo Tomas Graduate School – Center for Conservation of Cultural Property and Environment in the Tropics (USTGS-CCCPET) for the second leg of the three-part workshop-writeshop series entitled “PAMANA: World Heritage and Biosphere Nomination Series in Davao Oriental College of Science and Technology in City of Mati, Davao Oriental on September 15-16, 2016.

The workshop aims to build technical capacities of the representative of the different sites in the Tentative List pf the Philippines for the enlistment to the World Heritage Sites which consist of 19 sites as of 2016. The workshop is structured according to the three pillars of the World Heritage Convention inscription, the series is a follow-up of the workshop held in 2014 in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur and April 13-14, 2016 in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, both facilitated by USTGS-CCCPET.

The second leg workshop in Davao Oriental focuses intensively on authenticity and integrity of the site nominated. PH Natcom and USTGS-CCCPET jointly coordinated with Davao Oriental College of Science and Technology and Provincial Government of Davao Oriental. As a side event of the workshop is the Site Manager’s Meeting of all the current World Heritage Sites in the Philippines to gather updates on the most recent development of the sites. The second day of the workshop is a field tour of Mount Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary and Site Visit for Promotion of Local Trade. The workshop is well represented by different sites on the tentative list from all over the Philippines.
