Casanova of Filipino is new head of KWF

Assoc. Prof. Arthur P. Casanova, PhD of the Department of Filipino is the new Chairman of the Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino, the commission’s official Facebook page announced on December 5, 2020. 

Casanova, a recipient of the prestigious Metrobank Outstanding Teacher award, earned his bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and secondary education in Filipino from the Mindanao State University, and his master’s degree in Filipino linguistics from the Philippine Normal University, where he also earned his doctorate degree in Linguistics and Literature.

An accomplished author of over 40 books, Casanova is also a noted educator, linguist, and theater director. He first joined the KWF in early 2020 as full-time commissioner, succeeding National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario.
