Capacity building session on basic photography held for UST support staff

The University of Santo Tomas Office of the SecretaryGeneral, in coordination with the Office of Public Affairs and the Human Resource Department, held a capacity building and enhancement learning session on
basic photography on September 13, 2018 at the Dr. George S.K. Ty Function Hall of the Buenaventura Garcia Paredes, O.P., Building in UST.

PCCI Institute of Photography Faculty Member Mr. Ibarra Deri and Manila Bulletin Senior Photojournalist Mr. Mark Balmores shared their insights with 50 participants from the UST support staff and University
event partner DMD Photography. The topics discussed were “Understanding
exposure modes and visual elements in composition” and “Photojournalism.” Mr. Deri and Mr. Balmores conducted a workshop where the participants were able to apply the lessons, followed by a
presentation and critiquing session. The photos of Ms. Claris Suarez, Mr. Noel Antonio, Mr. Jun Cayabyab, Ms. Karen Estoya, and Ms. Hiedi Manahan were recognized as the Top 5.

Initially launched in Baler as an advocacy workshop of the Office of Public
Affairs in May 2014, with another planned program in Vigan, this is the advocacy project’s third year.
