Busmente of Architecture presents paper on Spanish colonial churches at Malaysian university Arts symposium

UST College of Architecture faculty member Ar. Mary Rajelyn J. Busmente, presented her lecture titled “Selected National Cultural Treasures of Spanish Colonial Churches in the Philippines,” at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Applied Arts & Design (AAD) Department coinciding with its AAD Week. IIUM was held on April 22, 2021. Titled the “Second Design, Arts and Craftsmanship Symposium” with the theme “Khair: Revitalized Arts, Design, and Craft Values toward Society 5.0”, it was conducted through Google Meet and streamed on their YouTube account.

Busmente shared the conservation approach of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) conducted on the UNESCO inscribed churches in Paoay, Ilocos Norte; Miag-ao, Iloilo; and Sta. Maria, Romblon.

The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Design program of IIUM is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It offers courses in Interior Design, Industrial Design, and Conservation.
