Description

Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECEd) is a four-year program that prepares its students for both the art and science of teaching children 0 – 8 years old. It provides a solid foundation on developmentally appropriate practices in effective early childhood care and education. The program culminates with an extensive teaching internship in various cooperating schools, both public and private, local and international, under the mentorship of highly experienced professional teachers.

  1. Articulate the rootedness of education in philosophical, sociocultural, historical, psychological, and political contexts 
  2. Demonstrate high levels of content and pedagogical knowledge and skills for effective delivery of teaching-learning processes 
  3. Create innovative curricula, instructional plans, teaching approaches, and resources to address student diversity 
  4. Apply various skills in the development and utilization of ICT to promote quality relevant and sustainable practices while working collaboratively with others 
  5. Manifest critical thinking and problem-solving skills in planning, monitoring, assessing, and reporting learning processes and outcomes 
  6. Pursue lifelong learning for personal and professional growth through varied experiential, field-based opportunities, and research reciprocity 
  7. Practice professional and ethical teaching standards sensitive to local, national, and global realities to guide one’s decision-making and action in various school settings and situations

Student Experience and Support

The University of Santo Tomas provides student services that cater to academic, spiritual, and wellness concerns of students. These support units are found in the different parts of the campus and can be accessed by Thomasians. When the University shifted to distance learning, the services also transitioned to online services to continue addressing the needs of Thomasians.
