Accountancy junior leads donation drive in Montalban, Rizal

Bachelor of Science in Accountancy junior Patricia Claire Cruz led a donation drive for the benefit of families in Montalban, Rizal who were affected by Typhoon Ulysses.

Along with her family members, Cruz said this relief drive was in collaboration with fellow Thomasians Grade 12 Senior High School Janine Maye Antonio of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics strand, and Grade 12 Senior High School Claudette Anne Santos of Health Allied Strand. The donation drive provided old clothes, face masks, face shields, toiletries, canned goods, medicine, ready-to-eat food, hygiene kits, bottled water, and blankets to 100 families.

Moreover, the donation drive had raised P20,568.65.

Cruz narrated that their relief efforts stemmed from the calls for help of their fellow Montalbenos, which were posted on Facebook and on Twitter. “There are a lot of means to offer help, and let us not box ourselves with the common notion na ang pagtulong ay equitable sa pera agad. You can provide manpower sa mga donation drive,” she said.

Nonetheless, Cruz highlighted social media’s power of reaching people as a mean to extend help.“A simple retweet or share of a donation drive pubmat will be a lot of help already. Help is help no matter how small or big you think it is. Don’t be ashamed if P1 lang, or manpower ang kaya mong ibigay kasi para sa mga taong nangangailangan ng tulong, your mere presence and sympathy is enough kung wala talagang kayang ibigay.” she said.Cruz is also serving as the auditor of Central Student Council.
