Accountancy alumna pockets world 9-Ball Championship, becomes first Pinay to win gold

Rubilen “Bingkay” Amit bagged the gold in the 2024 Massé World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) Women’s World 9-Ball Championship, held in Hamilton, New Zealand.

The Thomasian snooker outlasted China’s Chen Si-Ming in 4 sets, becoming the first Filipina pool player to join the league of 9-ball champions worldwide.

Amit is an alumna of the BSC Accountancy program, then offered in the College of Commerce and Business Administration, in 2004. Behind her team is Department of Psychology Chair Karen Katrina Trinidad, PhD (sports psychologists) and Philippine billiards legends Efren “Bata” Reyes and Francisco “Django” Bustamante.”
