Galán of CCWLS delivers lecture on Nature Writing Ecocriticism at Mindanao State University literary forum

UST Center for Creative Writing and Literary Studies Assistant Director Assoc. Prof. Ralph Semino Galán delivered a lecture on “Nature Poetry and Ecocriticism” at a literary forum held recently at the Mindanao State University in Marawi City. The forum, which featured an international panel of discussants and focused on current issues in the teaching and/ or writing of literature, was one of the main highlights of the Iligan National Writers’ Workshop (INWW) and the celebration of its Silver Jubilee.

The other speakers were Dr. Rodney Benedito Ferrao of the College of William & Mary, the second oldest institution of higher learning in the United States after Harvard University who talked about contemporary “Techniques and Trends in Creative Non-Fiction;” Dr. Erlinda Kintanar Alburo, former director of the Cebuano Studies Center of the University of San Carlos who discussed issues in “Contemporary Sebuano Poetry;” and Dr. Isidoro Cruz, the dean of the Graduate School of the University
of San Agustin who discussed “Reading Children’s Literature in
21st Century.”
