Alipao of Sociology, CommDev represents academe in National Anti-Poverty Sectoral Summit

UST Simbahayan Community Development Office Assistant Director Asst. Prof. Froilan Alipao, MCD attended the National Anti-Poverty Sectoral Summit organized by the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) from October 7 and 8, 2016 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City.

The summit was organized and convened in response to the government’s direction towards a “holistic, convergent, and participatory approach to leadership and governance,” as mandated by Executive Order No. 1. The activity marked a new stage of inclusiveness and meaningful representation of the Filipino poor sectors in the administration and operation of NAPC. There were around 500 participants from basic sector leaders, anti-poverty advocates and partners from civil society and the private sector, and representatives from the national government agencies who worked together to define the government’s National Anti-Poverty Agenda that shall guide NAPC’s work for the next six years.

Alipao joined the workshop group of Governance and Empowerment which was participated in by mostly the civil society organizations and development support groups working with different basic and marginalized sectors for different advocacies and initiatives for development and empowerment. UST SIMBAHAYAN was the only representative from the academe that participated in the workshop.
