In celebration of the nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the UST Museum and Marian Evangelization Community opened the “Gratia Plena” exhibit last September 8, 2016 (Thursday). The exhibit, which happens on the eve of the centenary of Our Lady of Fatima, will run until October 14, 2016.
In his welcome message, UST Museum Director Fr. Isidro C. Abaño, O.P. underscored not just the Dominican connection to the Blessed Virgin Mary but specifically to Our Lady of Fatima, who identified herself in the final apparition in 1917 as “Our Lady of the Holy Rosary.” Fr. Abaño expressed hope that the exhibit, which covers images, paintings, icons, statuettes, and reliefs, among others, will help deepen the viewers’ connection with the Virgin Mary.
Center for Campus Ministry Director Richard G. Pazcoguin, concurrent adviser of the Marian Evangelization Community, said that this year’s exhibit is extra special due to the partnership with the Museum, which opened opportunities for more materials to be displayed. Pazcoguin thanked, among others, Fr. James del Rosario, a diocesan Fatima devotee, who lent his images of Our Lady of Fatima, carved by Portuguese Jose Ferreira Thedim, who carved images out of the descriptions given by Sr. Lucia.
The Thomasian community is invited to view the exhibit and deepen their knowledge and devotion to Our Lady.
