UST-Alfredo M. Velayo College of Accountancy Dean Prof. Patricia M. Empleo, Ph.D. and Assistant Dean Asst. Prof. Francisco M. Caliwan Jr., participated as subject-matter experts in the Global In-House Center Council (GICC) CEO Roundtable Discussion on September 25, 2023 at the Citibank BGC, Taguig Office. Other than representing the college, Caliwan also represented the National Association of CPAs in Education as its president.
Aligned with the theme Unlocking the Power of Collective Knowledge in Finance & Accounting Talent Sourcing Strategy, Empleo and Caliwan discussed the strategies to forge a stronger alliance between the academe and the accounting shared service industry. They highlighted the possible areas for linkages and partnerships in order for academic institutions to prepare their graduates for accounting shared service roles, as a possible career path. The event was attended by the country leaders and general managers of GICC member organizations. The roundtable discussion is meant to align the existing demand for and supply of accountants in the shared service industry.
