LIPARDO, Donald S.

Prof. Librado A. Santiago, Ph.D., is presently a Professor 3 of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Biochemistry, the UST Graduate School, and a resident researcher of the Research Center for the Natural and Applied Sciences of the University of Santo Tomas (UST). Dr. Santiago holds a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry (UST), a master’s degree in agriculture, majoring in Agricultural Chemistry from Gifu University, Gifu, Japan, and a doctoral degree in Medical Science from Okayama University Medical School, Okayama, Japan.  Dr. Santiago has published more than 70 scientific papers in international, peer-reviewed journals.  He has written a chapter in the book Oxidative Stress and Aging, published in 1995 by Birkhauser, Verlag AG, Switzerland, pages 245-252, and in Nutrition, Lipids, Health, and Disease, pages 45-58.  He issued monographs in Oxygen Radicals, Elsevier Science Publishers, Netherlands in 1992 and Frontiers of Reactive Oxygen Species in Biology and Medicine, Elsevier in 1994. He also circulated as Co-author an article “Prevalence, Diagnostic Criteria, Complications and Potential Biomarkers of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus in the Philippines, pp 79-93. In: Diabetes: Disarming the Silent Killer. c2022. Published by Sunway University Press, Malaysia. Editors: Hani Hazman and Oileen Chin. ISBN 978-987-5492-19-8.

Dr. Santiago is a recipient of the 2023 & 2022 UST Top 7 & 6 Outstanding Scientists and University Rankings, the 2021 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Faculty of Pharmacy Alumni Association, the 2018 Professorial Medal Award given by the Rector of the UST; 2014-2016 UST Research Recognition Award for Gold Series and International Publications given last March 16, 2018; and 2012-2014 UST Research Recognition Award for Gold Series and International Publications given last March 19, 2016.   He is an awardee of the 16th Dangal ng UST Awards, Gawad San Alberto Magno, for Best Published Research, and in the 15th Dangal ng UST Awards, Gawad San Alberto Magno, for Outstanding Researcher in 2015 & 2014, respectively.
