The University’s COVID-19 response policies were codified under the Institutional Collective Guidelines. These guidelines, developed in line with international and local advisories, are available in the Office of the Secretary-General’s website:

With the lockdown of Luzon, the University shifted to online delivery of learning, both through synchronous and asynchronous means, in consonance with the guidelines released by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education. UST introduced the Enriched Virtual Mode of Instruction powered by UST Cloud Campus and has used the mode since the start of Academic Year 2021-2022.
The Antoninus Journal, the official multidisciplinary research journal of the Graduate School, is currently publishing theoretical and critical essays from all disciplines, to tackle issues, challenges, and opportunities during this COVID-19 pandemic.
The UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery released on April 24, 2020 its COVID-19 action plan recommendation to the Philippine government.

In 2021, the University opened the campus, particularly the Practice Gymnasium, to be a vaccination center in partnership with the Local Government of the City of Manila.

Pulmonologist Dr. Earl Louis Sempio, MD of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and the Educational Technology Center created an educational portal that provides the latest updates on COVID-19.
The Department of Elementary Education gave tips on how parents can teach their children at home. Apart from tips on teaching, the Department also provided ways to reassure kids despite the pandemic.
UST engineers from the startup EEnovatics came up with the Buildings and Establishments Automated Temperature Reading Integrated Contact Tracing Equipment (BEATRICE).

Our faculty members from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, as well as our graduates from the different programs, have been providing healthcare on the frontlines in the UST Hospital and facilities all over the world.
The Counseling and Career Center continues to provide mental health and guidance services for the Thomasian studentry.
Meanwhile, the Thomasian Mental Health Responders, composed of alumni and faculty members, cater to the needs of COVID-19 frontliners.
The Counseling and Career Center partnered with the Communications Bureau to produce a video package on how to cope with mental stress brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The video used the acronym TIGER to list the actions that Thomasians can take.
The Faculty of Engineering, with support from UST and external partners in industry and alumni, are 3D printing face shield visors and ear guards, which have since been distributed to beneficiaries all over the country.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is producing ventilators for deployment to healthcare facilities.
The Thomasian Alumni Leaders Association provided testing booths for the health centers of the cities of Caloocan, Navotas, and Valenzuela.

Members of the Thomasian community took part in a collaborative project to ask for God’s mercy and healing from this crisis caused by the global pandemic. As we allow the lyrics to fill our hearts, may they help us express to the Lord our plea for help. In this National Week of Prayer to overcome COVID-19, may we be steadfast in faith that we will triumph over this, with His Unending Grace.
We are witnessing the heroism of individuals who remain committed to duty despite the risks to their own safety.
We salute you, especially our frontliners. We are with you in praying and believing that like past struggles, we will overcome this. Thank you for your selfless service. God bless you!
The world-renowned University of Santo Tomas Singers, composed of current and alumni members, reunited virtually for a tribute rendition of "Isang Dugo, Isang Lahi at Musika," to call for unity in the fight against COVID-19.
In a special way, the UST Singers dedicated the song to their fellow USTS members who are now serving in the frontlines here and abroad.
