Zendel Rosario M. Taruc is the current university-wide Chairperson of the Department of Filipino University of Santo Tomas, Manila. She holds a rank of associate professor 5. She was the coordinator of the International Relations and Programs of UST College of Education year 2018-2022 and became the overall coordinator of the South East Asian Student Teacher Programme (SEA Teacher) batches 6, 7 & 8 of the UST-SEAMEO partnership (2018-2022).

She served as the Department Head of Languages and Literature of UST College of Nursing (2005-2010). She is one of the consultants in revising the Ortograpiyang Filipino 2023 by the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) and was invited as one of the judges in a prestigious competition, Sanaysay ng Taon 2021 of the KWF. She was one of the Chapter Awardees 2023 (Valenzuela City) recognized by the Philippine Normal University Alumni Association on April 30, 2023. And a recipient of Gawad Likha (active in Research and Publications), Gawad Lingkod (Community Service), and Gawad Punla (Leadership & Extension) of UST, College of Education, held on May 20, 2023
