UST aims for Guinness record for largest human cross

On Ash Wednesday, March 9, 2011, 4:00 p.m., the entire University community will form the Largest Human Cross at the open space in front of the grandstand.  Though the activity is an attempt at a world record, it is imbued with religious significance.  On that day when our foreheads are marked with the sign of Christ’s saving cross, we will “mark” a portion of the UST campus with a huge Dominican Cross, symbol of the University’s Catholic and Dominican identity. No less than 24,000 administrators, faculty, employees and students, will form the said cross. The formation will be maintained for 10-15 minutes in an atmosphere of communal prayer.  After the event, there shall be a Eucharistic Celebration at the UST Grandstand at 5:15 p.m. with the University Rector, Fr. Rolando V. de la Rosa, O.P. as presider and homilist.

In order to assure the success of the event, there shall be a dry run of the event on Wednesday, March 2, 2011.
