As the Department of Neurology & Psychiatry of the Faculty of Medicine & Surgery anticipates the forthcoming 400th year foundation celebration of the Thomasian community in 2011, the department has initiated the preparations for a grand scientific conference in the field of neurosciences and behavioral medicine. Aptly titled “Quadricentennial Neuroscience Summit 2011” with the schedule on January 19 – 21, 2011, the university-wide grand festivities for the Quadricentennial celebration will be held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza, Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Manila.
The Department of Neurology and Psychiatry takes great pride in embarking on this scientific endeavor as its way of paying homage to a world-class institution commemorating centuries of academic excellence and imbued with the vaunted Thomasian spirit. The “Quadricentennial Neuroscience Summit 2011” was conceptualized to provide a scientific venue for the enhancement of education, research and advocacies in the various subspecialties in Neurology and Behavioral Medicine. Likewise, it aims to consolidate the scientific ideas of physicians dealing with neurologic and psychiatric diseases and share these concepts via active interactions with highly esteemed authoritative colleagues and distinguished academics that are renowned globally. The organizing committee has already invited highly esteemed guest lecturers as part of our international faculty. To date,16 have already expressed interest which include Drs. Henry Schutta, Stefan Schwab, Elson So, Romaine Schubert, Christopher Chen, John Morris and Prof. Marie-Germaine Bousser to name a few.
Primed with a comprehensive neurologic and psychiatric scientific activity, the organizing committee is expecting our medical alumni, both here and abroad, particularly the balikbayan colleagues in the practice of both general and specialty medicine (i.e. internists, neurologists, pediatricians and psychiatrists) to participate in this 3-day grand conference.
