The USTv Students’ Choice Awards, a pioneering endeavor of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) to recognize artistic excellence and to promote Christian values in television programming.

USTv acknowledge Thomasian students’ choice of television programs, and personalities during the 6th USTV Awarding Ceremonies on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. at the UST Medicine Auditorium.

The categories for this year are: Students’ Choice of Educational Program, Students’ Choice of Full-Animated Program, Students’ Choice of Foreign Soap Opera, Students’ Choice of Talk Variety Program, Students’ Choice of Documentary Program, Students’ Choice of Magazine Program, Students’ Choice of Local News and Current Affairs Program, Students’ Choice of Male- News and Current Affairs Host, Students’ Choice of Female- News and Current Affairs Host, Students’ Choice of Talk Variety Show, Student’s Choice of Situational Comedy Program, Students’ Choice of Reality Show, Students’ Choice of  Drama Program, and Students’ Choice of Catholic Program.

Other awards are Students’ Choice of Sports Program, Students’ Choice of Public Affairs, Students’ Choice of  Local Music Video, Students’ Choice of   Local Music Video Performer, Students’ Choice of Public Service program, Students’ Choice of TV Advertisement, Students’ Choice of Game Show, Students’ Choice of Gag Show, Students’ Choice of Entertainment News Program, Students’ Choice of Variety Show ,Students’ Choice of a Daily Soap Opera, Students’ Choice of Actor in a Daily Local Soap Opera, and Students’ Choice of Actress in a Daily Local Soap Opera.

A Special Award and Lifetime Achievement Award for Public Service Program will also be given.

The Board of Judges is headed by Rev. Fr. Florentino A. Bolo, Jr. O.P., UST Secretary General as Chair. Other members include Rev. Fr. Arthur B. Dingel, Assistant to the Rector for Planning and Quality Management; Prof. Clarita Carillo Ph.D., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Research; Atty. Nilo Divina, Dean of Faculty of Civil Law; Prof. Joselito Zulueta, Publications Adviser, the Varsitarian; Prof. Nestor Cuartero, entertainment editor, TEMPO; Ms. Emma Yeung, Treasurer, UST Alumni Association, Inc. ;Mr. Gian Carlo Enriquez, Artistic Director, Artistang Artlets; Bro. Jomar Valdevieso, Theological Society; Mr. Alex Valcos, Mediartrix; Ms. Charmaine Sales, Communication Arts Students Association; Mr. Paolo Montes, UST Pax Romana; Ms. Catherine Recio, TOMCAT; and Mr. Emil Karlo dela Cruz, Varsitarian.

This annual event is spearheaded by the Office of the Secretary General in cooperation with the Office for Student Affairs, Central Student Council, Students Organization Coordinating Council, Office of Public Affairs, Social Research Center, Institute of Religion, Educational Technological Center and other related offices.
