The University of Santo Tomas announces its 2010 Annual Inter-School On-The-Spot Painting Competition, with this year’s theme, “MAG-INA: Larawan ng Yaman ng Kultura at Kalikasan”, set against the backdrop of UST’s cultural and natural heritage.
The prestigious competition acknowledges the talents of students in the field of visual arts. It aims to foster camaraderie among students and encourages them to hone their talents through friendly and creative competition. Some of the UST Annual OTSPC past winners have emerged as promising artists of our time: Alfredo Esquillo, Ronaldo Ventura, Joe Barcena, and Mark Salvatus, to name a few.
The UST Annual Inter-School OTSPC will be held on February 25, 2010 at the Benavides Garden fronting the UST Main Building which was recently declared a National Cultural Treasure by the National Museum. Open to bona fide Fine Arts students from universities and colleges in and around Metro Manila, the competition is the first of its kind in the country.
Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and the competition proper runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. First, second and third prize winners will receive PhP40,000.00, PhP25,000.00 and PhP20,000.00 respectively. Three honorable mentions will receive PhP8,000.00 each. The winning entries will be on exhibit at the UST Museum Main Gallery from February 25 to March 19, 2010.
