Ababou leads MVP race

UST main man Dylan Ababou topped the overall statistical point’s race for Most Valuable Player honors at the end of the first round in the on-going UAAP Season 72 basketball wars.

The 6-foot-3 veteran swingman registered 66.8572 total statistical points (TOTSP) to underscore a league-best scoring average of 19.6 points. Ababou also logged in 7.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 0.9 steals an outing at the end of the first round.

Ababou currently holds single-game records in scoring by virtue of a 30-point explosion in the Tigers’ 104-89 win over NU and a 28-point onslaught against UE which UST nipped, 92-88.

Running second is FEU center Aldrech Ramos who mustered 64. 4286 TOTSPs bolstered by a league-leading 10.8 rebounds per game. Not far behind is Ababou’s teammate Khasim MIrza who wound up third with 64.1429 TOTSPs. Mirza is the Tigers’ second leading scorer, averaging 17 points per game.

The rest of the Top 10 include: Pari Llagas (UE), Mark Barroca (FEU), Paul Lee (UE), Elmer Espiritu (UE), reigning MVP Rabeh Al-Hussaini (Ateneo), Pippo Noundou (FEU), and RR Garcia (FEU).

UST's top rookie Jeric Teng was the highest ranked freshman in the list at 15th place via a 45 TOTSPs tally courtesy of a 13.4-points-per-game norm.
