Research Cluster for the Health Sciences

THE RESEARCH CENTER FOR THE HEALTH SCIENCES ASSISTS FACULTY members in the fields of medicine and surgery, nursing and rehabilitation science. Based in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, the center was
tasked in 2003 to provide laboratory facilities for medical research, evidenced by the establishment of the Molecular Biology Laboratory. Currently, it is involved in multiple research projects primarily using molecular binding techniques.

Research work in the rehabilitation sciences has focused on health and fitness, physiologic testing and exercise, and resistance training for collegiate and elite athletes. These studies were previously carried out in the Center for Research on Movement Science, which is an evidence translation group under the Center for Allied Health Evidence of the University of South Australia and an evidence synthesis group of the Joanna Briggs Institute in Australia.
