The University of Santo Tomas Singers highlighted its European tour 2010 with another highly esteemed honor. UST Singers won for the 2nd time the “Choir of the World - The Pavarotti Trophy 2010” in the very prestigious Eisteddfod Gerddorol Ryngwladol Llangollen held in North Wales.
It is first time in the history of Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod, the oldest choral competition, for a choir to win the title twice. The Choir of the World Competition for the Pavarotti Trophy, named after the great Italian tenor, Luciano Pavarotti, is the final competition among the winners of the five prestigious choral competitions. The UST Singers, who bagged the first prized in the Mixed Choir competition, topped The White Rosettes of England (winner of the Barbershop/Close Harmony Choruses competition), the Cantabile Limburg of Germany (winner of the Male Choirs competition), the Chanterelles Choir of England (winner of the Female Choirs competition), the Cywair of Wales (winner of the Chamber Choir competition).
