On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Santísimo Rosario Parish, the Apostolic Penitentiary of the Vatican granted the request of Fr. Louie R. Coronel, O.P. (Parish Priest), through Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal G. Tagle, D.D., to grant plenary indulgence to those partaking of the celebrations and fulfilling the usual conditions for such indulgence.
The decree prescribes the period of September 1 to October 31, 2017 for the grant of the said indulgence. The decree requires the faithful to fulfill the usual conditions, namely “Sacramental Confession, Eucharistic Communion, and Prayer for the intention of the Supreme Pontiff (Pope Francis).” The decree likewise allows the application for such indulgence to be done “by way of suffrages, to the poor souls of the faithful in purgatory, if they will visit the parochial Church of Santísimo Rosario in the form of pilgrimage and there devotedly participate in the jubilee rites or will at least devote a considerable space of time in pious reflection, concluding with the Lord’s Prayer (The Our Father), the Profession of Faith (The Creed), and an invocation to the Blessed Virgin Mary.”
Furthermore, the decree noted that “The elderly, the sick and all those who, for serious reason, are unable to leave their home, can equally obtain plenary indulgence, having been conceived the renunciation of sin, and the intention to fulfill the three usual conditions as soon as possible, if they join themselves spiritually to the jubilee celebrations, offering their prayers and sufferings or the inconvenience of one’s own life to the merciful GOD.”
