The UST Faculty of Canon Law, answering the call of Veritatis Gaudium and the Instruction on the Reform of the Matrimonial Process, is organizing a one-day Seminar on Matrimonial Law, which will include a review of the canonical understanding of the Sacrament of Marriage and the grounds for the declaration of nullity of marriage. This seminar is intended primarily for Parish Priests and their vicars, although any cleric who is interested may also attend.

The objectives of the seminar include:
1. To strengthen the Parish Priests’ knowledge of the sacrament of marriage;
2. To provide the Parish Priests the opportunity to properly respond to people who are possibly interested in verifying the nullity of their marriage; and help them determine if there are possible grounds for nullity; and
3. To make our Parish Priests able collaborators of Matrimonial Tribunal Personnel so that the latter becomes more effective in their ministry.

The seminar will be held on October 24, 2019, Thursday from 8:00am to 5:00pm at the UST Martyrs’ Hall of the Ecclesiastical Faculties, University of Santo Tomas. There will be a registration fee of Php500.00 to cover the expenses of the seminar, including lunch and snacks.

This seminar is the Faculty’s way of making the Holy Father’s apostolic letter Mitis Iudex Dominus Iesus relevant and known to our clergy. This will be the first of two parts, and another day will be set for a separate seminar on the new process of declaration of nullity for those who want to become familiar with the procedure.

Those interested may contact the Ecclesiastical Faculties office at +63917-7221378 / (02) 731-4066 / eccle.links@ust.edu.ph (email) to reserve a slot as there are only limited seats available.
