With the theme Beyond 2018: Planning for Compliance with New CHED Policies, Standards and Guidelines for Rehabilitation Science Programs, the Philippine Association of Rehabilitation Sciences Schools (PARSS) will hold its 3rd National Conference on July 7 to July 8, 2017 at the Alfredo M. Velayo Multi-purpose Hall.

This national conference is a part of the continuing efforts to prepare rehabilitation science schools for higher education reforms dictated by changes in national and global standards, such as the implementation of an outcomes-based and typology-based quality assurance system (CMO 46, series of 2012) by 2014, the reality of an ASEAN Community by 2015, the institution of 12 years of basic education in the country, and the adoption of internationally recognized quality frameworks and mutual recognition agreements (MRAs).

This conference is scheduled to follow the CHED Public Orientation on the new policies, standards and guidelines (PSGs) for BS Physical Therapy, BS Occupational Therapy, and BS Speech-Language Pathology, so as to provide an opportunity for a more in-depth discussion of the provisions in each CMO and enable school administrators and faculty members to conduct a self-assessment of their institution’s level of compliance with the new PSGs and develop a plan of action to comply within the transition period.

The outcomes of this conference will allow PARSS to direct future capacity-building activities to assist schools in the implementation of the new PSGs and ensure the smooth transition to a new curriculum aligned with K to 12.
