The University of Santo Tomas in 2014 recognized the power of social media and as such established the Social Media Bureau, an independent university-wide support unit to handle the University’s online presence. Recognizing the need for literacy among schools whose students are undeniably social media-engaged, we will host LinkEd: The First Social Media in Education Summit on November 16 and 17, 2017, at the Buenaventura G. Paredes, O.P. Building.

This summit aims to gather education practitioners who are directly or indirectly engaged in social media use: 1) heads of schools; 2) student affairs / discipline officials; 3) public affairs / relations officials; and 4) educational technology creators. At the end of the summit, participants will have been:

  1. acquainted with social media networks and their common uses;
  2. identified situations when social media can be used in education; and
  3. learned best practices for social media use by schools.
