The Research Center for Social Sciences and Education (RCSSED) and Faculty of Arts and Letters will hold the 1st Gender, Adult Literacy, and Active Citizenship for Social Transformation (GALACST) International Conference on November 20-22, 2019 at the Thomas Aquinas Research Center.

The keynote speakers for this conference are Vice-President of the Philippines Maria Leonor Robredo, and UNESCO Chairholder Prof. Anna Robinson-Pant.

In conjunction, Dr. Ulrike Hanneman will launch Transformare: A Network of Gender and Adult Literacy Advocates.

The aim of this conference is to provide outlines on how the theme “Gender Equality, and Active Citizenship as Pathways to Empowerment, and Social Transformation as pathways to empowerment and social transformation” can play key roles in achieving sustainable development goals.

This international conference is in partnership with UNESCO Chair in Adult Literacy and Learning for Social Transformation based in the University of the East Anglia, United Kingdom.
