On September 10, 2019, College of Fine Arts and Design alumnus Basilio H. Sepe (BFA major in Advertising Arts) captured the second place of the “Top News, Singles Category” of the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest 2019 held in Moscow, Russia. His winning work was entitled “Baywatch.”

Baywatch was Sepe’s work on informal settlers in search for recyclable materials in the shorelines of Navotas, Manila after Typhoon Karding’s downpour in the country in August 2018.

Sepe served as the Chief Photographer of the Varsitarian. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts, major in Advertising Arts degree in 2017.

The Andrei Stenin International Photo Contest is an annual photo contest that serves as an avenue for young photojournalists aged between 18 to 33 years old. It is Russia’s sole platform that aims to discover and to recognize new photojournalists worldwide.
