Mr. Jame Monren T. Mercado (Lead Researcher) and Mr. Avi Ben P. Andalecio (Co-Researcher), both faculty members of the Tourism Management Department of the UST – College of Tourism and Hospitality Management were given a Research Grant during the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Research Awards 2019.

Their research is entitled: “Ysla de Panciteria: A Preliminary Study on the Culinary Heritage Significance of Pancit using the Heritage Documentation Approach – The Case of Luzon Island, Philippines”. Its objective is to determine the significance of Pancit present in the Luzon Island for Philippine Culinary Heritage specifically on its historical, culinary, agricultural, aesthetic, economic, health, spiritual, social and symbolical aspects by documenting it based on different international and national frameworks and conventions. The grant will run from January 2019 to October 2019.

The NCCA Research Awards is an annual recognition that supports all types of research on Philippine cultural practices and artistic expressions. It also financially supports research proposals that concentrate on disseminating Philippine Culture and the Arts.
