“Team BaTAX” of the UST Alfredo M. Velayo – College of Accountancy was hailed as champion in Taxberg: Exploring the Depths of Taxation, a held last September 22-23, 2018 at the KPMG Center, Makati City. Team BaTAX is composed of 5th-year BS Accountancy students Daniel L. Antonio, Christien Joy G. Farinas, Micah Lorainne R. Manahan, and Adrian Jan B. Uyyco.

During the elimination round, all teams unscrambled a tax problem about individual taxpayers. Top ten teams were selected and advanced to the final round with a case problem regarding the effects of Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law.

Other winning teams who secured the second and third places are representatives from University of the East-Manila and University of Makati, respectively.

Taxberg is tax case study tournament organized by KPMG International, the global network professional firm of R.G. Manabat & Co., and National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants-NCR, and was open to all accountancy students nationwide. In 2015, the representatives from UST-AMV College of Accountancy won the 1st KPMG Tax Case Competition, making this year’s win a back-to-back success.
