Mr. Laurence Lloyd B. Parial, MAN, RN, an alumnus and currently a faculty member from the College of Nursing, was recently awarded with the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship (HKPF) to pursue his doctoral studies at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) on the coming academic year 2019/20.
Established by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong in 2009, the HKPF is aimed at attracting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong’s universities. The award is the most competitive among all the scholarship grants offered by the region, such that international applicants should demonstrate outstanding qualities of academic performance, research ability/potential, communication and interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities.
The fellowship award comes with a monthly stipend and conference and research-related travel allowance up to a period of three (3) years. In addition, the host university will provide tuition scholarships and associated monetary support for other expenses during the study period.
Aside from being World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Community Health Services, PolyU is also one of the top schools in nursing education, ranking 31st in the QS World University Rankings this 2019.
