On August 7, 2019, BSc Food Technology alumnus Bien Enrico Ah (Batch 1997) turned over the donation of Php 500,000 to his alma mater, UST College of Education, for the renovation of the food technology laboratory. The turnover ceremonies was attended by Ah and Education officials, namely Dean Pilar I. Romero, PhD; Regent fr. George Phe Mang, O.P., SThL-MA; and Food Technology Department Chair Elizabeth H. Arenas, PhD; College Secretary Kashmer T. Cruz, MBioEd; and College of Education Alumni Foundation, Inc. (CEAFI) President Evelyn A. Songco, PhD.

Ah, who was recognized as one of the outstanding alumni of the College of Education in the May 15, 2019 Seat of Wisdom (SOW) Awards, made the pledge to give back to his alma mater during his acceptance speech.

In an interview with the Communications Bureau, Education Dean Pilar I. Romero, PhD noted that “More than the donation, it is the sincere expression of gratitude to the University which Mr. Bien Ah ceaselessly articulates that truly touches us. We pray that other alumni will draw inspiration from him and touch base with their alma mater as we earnestly try to draw them back home to the University of Santo Tomas College of Education.”

After earning his degree from UST, Ah graduated from the American Society of Baking. He is the Founding President of the Philippine Society of Baking, serving from 2005-2007, and was also President of the Filipino-Chinese Bakery Association, Inc.
