Last February 16, 2017 (Thursday), selected Grade 7 and 8 students of the Education High School met with their counterparts enrolled in a specialized English Program from Samroiyod Wittayakom School, Thailand. The Thailand students were in the Philippines for a cultural exchange program.
During the meeting, activities and games that highlighted the use of the English language were conducted. Culture was likewise emphasized, with the EHS students showing Filipino games and chants, and their Thai counterparts inviting them to a solidarity dance. In response, the EHS students, clad in Filipiniana, showcased a folk dance honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary.
To cap off, students and guests formed the ASEAN interlocked hands to symbolize the strengthened bond formed.
Prior to the program, Thai students are toured around the campus and had a photo-op in front of the historic Arch of Centuries.
EHS Principal Asst. Prof. Loreto S. Sauz and Supervising Teacher for English Assoc. Prof. Andres Julio V. Santiago, Jr., Ph.D. welcomed guests.
EHS Subject Area of English teachers likewise assisted in the conduct of the event, with Mr. Patrick Ernest C. Celso served as facilitator, and Mr. Jordon Angelo G. Estrada, Mr. Dericke Duane C. Aguas, Ms. Elyssa Joy M. Deluyas, Ms. Nikki S. Mendoza, and Ms. Louise Frances Marquez, as team leaders for the activities and games.
Samroiyod Wittayakhom School was allowed by the Ministry of Education to open a mini-English Program in the year 2003, which became an English Program in the following year.
